Our methodology maximizes players’ enjoyment and improvement

We implement a – Learner-Centred, Tactic-First, Open Skill, Integrated Performance Factors (tactical, technical, physical, mental) – methodology which maximizes players’ enjoyment and improvement while building a solid foundation for their future success and lifelong participation. This world-class methodology is developed and endorsed by Tennis Canada and taught in Canadian coaching certification courses, and many top tennis nations and academies are evolving toward it.

Hassan Askari

Hassan is a leader in the industry who has been heavily involved in all aspects of the sport and tennis business operation for more than 20 years and has a proven track record in player, coach and program development. He is a highly-regarded tennis professional and coach educator in Canda for displaying the highest standard of conduct and service to people, both on and off the court. Hassan is also a Tennis Canada consultant and Coach Developer, contributing to raising the quality of the content and delivery of coaching certification courses across the country.

A Coquitlam local and a former top BC player, Peter is a competent manager, a devoted coach and a loyal professional sharing his love for the game with players of all ages and levels over the past 15 years. He has been instrumental in growing the game in Tri-Cities, developing the next generation of competitive players, running popular social events and successful sanctioned tournaments, and mentoring many young coaches in his community. Peter is also a Tennis Canada Coach Developer for Instructor certification courses in BC.

Darran brings extensive international experience across six countries and all levels of the game, from grassroots to high performance. He has served as an ITF Coach Education Facilitator and Development Officer for Pacific Oceania, and held leadership roles with Tennis Canada, Tennis BC, and major clubs in the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and the U.S. Renowned for his passion, professionalism, and humility, Darran leads our Developmental Programs with a commitment to quality, consistency, and lifelong player growth.

With over 20 years of high-performance coaching and leadership experience, Gerard has held key roles with top clubs, Tennis BC, and Tennis Canada. A former elite player and three-time South American Junior Champion, he combines international playing experience with proven coaching expertise. Twice recognized with Tennis Canada’s Coaching Excellence Award, Gerard is known for his integrity, professionalism, and dedication to player growth. His well-rounded perspective—as player, coach, and parent—helps guide athletes and families with empathy and purpose.

Aman Patel

Aman is a former nationally ranked player from India with international competition experience across the AITA, ITF Junior Circuit, and the Road to Wimbledon Masters. A multiple national and university medalist, he brings strong tactical/technical insight and playing experience to his coaching. Aman is a loyal professional, who leads by example through his discipline, humility, and passion for the sport. His commitment to excellence and growth makes him a valued coach and a role model for young athletes.

Alex Valdez
Tennis Professional

Alex grew up competing in state and national tournaments in Mexico, with notable results in open-level and doubles events. After moving to Canada, coaching quickly became his true calling. He is a certified Club Professional with Honours, and players of all ages appreciate his patience, dedication, kindness, and personable approach—qualities that reflect the pure heart he brings to his work each day.

David Garzon
Lead Instructor

David is a 3rd generation tennis player and first picked up a racquet at age 3 in his native Colombia, played at the national level as a junior and enjoyed his first taste of coaching at age 19. His love for tennis runs deep, and with the birth of his children, he found a new purpose in coaching. He received his Canadian Instructor Certification in 2018 and has been since evangelizing the sport within the Tri-Cities. With his deep love for tennis and care for players, David does not rest until he can help players push their game to the next level.

Carlos Panszi
Fitness and Tennis Instructor

Charlie is a certified fitness coach and tennis instructor with national-level playing experience in Mexico, giving him a strong understanding of the game and the physical demands of high-performance tennis. A key contributor to our Athletic Development program since 2023, he brings high energy, warmth, and a natural ability to connect with players of all ages and backgrounds. Charlie embraces feedback, works seamlessly within a team environment, and is valued for his positive attitude and genuine care for people within our community.

Michael Chen

Michael began playing tennis at age 7 and developed as a high-performance player at our centre, competing provincially and in ITF events. A homegrown player joined us as a coach in 2022 and has quickly become a reliable and hardworking member of our team. Keen to learn and continually improve his coaching, Michael brings high expectations for his players, both juniors and adults. With his professionalism and dedication, he creates an environment that challenges and inspires players to reach their full potential.

David Yeung
Tennis Instructor

David is a Tennis Canada certified coach and official, and active competitor in the Vancouver Men’s League, bringing a well-rounded understanding of the game from multiple perspectives, including as the parent of a high-performance junior. Before joining our team, he coached in numerous school and community programs for both children and adults. David is passionate about coaching and giving back to the sport, regularly officiating at Tennis BC Provincials, Tennis Canada Nationals, the Stanley Park Open, and ITF events. Tennis truly is his lifelong calling.

Somayeh Alizad

Somayeh has been playing tennis for over 15 years and competes in the BC Women’s League, giving her firsthand competitive experience. A dedicated mother of a high-performance junior player, she joined us in 2023 and has coached across school and community programs for children and adults. Relentless in improving her skills as both a player and coach, Somayeh is open to feedback, systematic, and highly adaptable. With her kindness and thoughtful approach, she creates a supportive and engaging environment for players of all levels.

William Louie

With over a decade of coaching experience across youth and high school athletics, William is passionate about delivering a high-quality tennis experience for players of all ages. He brings a strong background in team leadership and player development, having coached volleyball teams to provincial and national success before transitioning to tennis. His values-based approach emphasizes confidence, skill growth, teamwork, and a positive learning environment. Whether coaching beginners or advanced players, William blends fun with structure while fostering respect, professionalism, and lifelong enjoyment of the game.

Wallis brings over a decade of coaching experience across Tennis Yukon, the Salmon Arm Tennis Club, and a wide range of junior and adult programs, leagues, and camps. A Cardio Tennis specialist with experience running tournaments and social events, she adds valuable variety to our adult programming. A former high school teacher in science, math, and technology, Wallis is known for her clear communication, organization, and engaging teaching style. Kind, energetic, and adaptable, she creates a positive, personalized experience for players of all levels.

Amanda brings over 15 years of tennis experience, including competitive play on her high school team where she earned MVP honors and strong provincial results. Passionate about coaching, she combines care, energy, and reliability to create a supportive environment for players of all ages. With strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills, Amanda has experience guiding children in both school and community programs, and is committed to continuous learning and developing as both a coach and mentor for junior players.

Regis is dedicated to fostering a welcoming and supportive tennis community where everyone can thrive.

Gordana is a mom to former high-performance tennis kids, a tennis fan and a player, a professional photographer - who took these beautiful portraits - a seasoned administrator and a caring customer service provider. She has the magical ability to make players, families, and visitors feel at home so much that they bring her back baked goods and cookies. Gordana fills the centre with laughter and compassion, and always strives to give every child and adult the chance to play.
