We are looking to hire a qualified person as a Lead Tennis Professional (coach) who currently lives the values we uphold strongly and is pursuing a full-time coaching career in a high-standard environment with long-term commitment.
As a Lead Tennis Professional (coach), the qualified candidate will play an integral role in maximizing program participation and players’ retention, as well as the effectiveness and quality of our program delivery, predominantly in our competitive and adult programs. As a lead professional, the candidate must be excellent at customer service and have comprehensive skills and experience, especially in coaching competitive junior players and adult learners of all levels.
Job Details:
The Lead Tennis Professional will work closely with the leadership team to deliver successful programs and events not only to grow Tennis participation within our community, but also to enhance our competitive players’ performance and their long-term development, and transition to Performance level. ReporKng directly to the Managing Director and Director of Competitive Program, the Lead Tennis Professional, in cooperation with the coaching staff, will be responsible for implementing our development plan and achieving our program objectives, while co-leading on-court trainings, coaching selected players, co-leading match-play training sessions, and providing tournamnet supports to to players and parents. This position requires flexible work hours, including evenings and weekends, according to program or event needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Role model a ‘Service-First’ atitude and being ‘Powered-On and Energized’ at all times.
• Deliver quality group and private tennis sessions to players of varying ages and levels according to the Quality Standards as learned in Tennis Canada coaching certification courses.
• Develop players’ point play skills (regardless of their age and playing level) by implementing ‘Tactic First’ approach and utilizing modern coaching methodology and technology as learned in Tennis Canada coaching certification courses.
• Meet program objectives and retention benchmarks.
• Ensure a seamless progression within our program pathway.
• Assist with the development and implementing our coaching curriculum for competitive and adult programs.
• Assist with the development of assistant coaches in competitive and adult programs.
• Assist directors with delivering camps and events when required.
• Adend coaches’ meetings and assist with overall improvement of tennis programs.
• Welcome players’ and parents’ feedback and inquires, and respond back in a timely, professional and helpful manner
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Tennis Canada certified Club Professional 2 certified or higher Club Stream certifications
• Be an active member of Tennis Professional Association (TPA) of Tennis Canada and meeting TPA’s Safe Sport requirements: a clear Background Check, completion of Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders online course, Declaration of Good Character.
• Minimum 5 years full-time coaching experience in established tennis clubs or facilities
• Minimum 5.0 playing level according to Tennis Canada’s Player Rating Scale.
• Attention to details while working in a noisy environment and standing for extended periods.
• Excellent customer service and efficient interpersonal skills.
• Excellent oral and wriden communicaKon skills.
• Organized, accurate, dependable, taking initiative and being flexible.
• Interpersonal awareness, good judgement and ethical.
• Positive and willing to contribute to our team cohesion, culture and performance.
• Commit to deliver the best-in-class services and quality programs that promote retention and life-long participation.
• Available Monday to Sunday (working shifts can vary from 7am to 11pm).
